PCS Clear Shield Floor Finish - 5 Gallon
PCS Clear Shield topcoat is specifically designed for finishing and protecting wood floors, cabinets, walls, and other interior wood surfaces where a clear, durable, scuff-resistant finish is desired. Its waterborne formulation is non-flammable, has little odor, and resists yellowing. PCS Clear Shield hard finish resists scuffing and abrasion and prevents discolorations from water and most household chemicals and cleaners. PCS Clear Shield may be applied over previously stained or finished floors and woodwork. However, before coating an entire floor, test the performance of PCS Clear Shield in a small, inconspicuous area such as a closet.
After applying the first coat, allow it to dry to the touch (typically 1 to 2 hours), then lightly sand it smooth using fine (180 grit or higher) sandpaper or a buffing brush. Do not allow the sanding procedure to build up excessive heat. Do not use steel wool. We do not recommend sanding between subsequent coats. For new or worn wood floors, a minimum of three coats is recommended; additional coats will add more luster and depth to the finish.

STEP 1: SURFACE PREPARATION Wood surfaces should be dry and cleaned of all oils, grease, wax, dirt and dust. For best results wipe the entire area to be finished with a clean rag prior to application. If an oil-based stain has been applied to the wood, allow it to dry for at least three weeks then wipe it down with a clean cloth before applying PCS Clear Shield.
Recommended Application Equipment: Use a synthetic bristle brush, foam brush or applicator pad to apply coats of PCS Clear Shield. Do not use a roller or other types of applicators that may entrap air in the finish.
Interior Walls, Cabinets, and Trim. If applying to wood walls, cabinets, or trim, first apply LIFELINE™ Interior stain or Prelude Clear Wood Primer. Once the stain or primer has dried to the touch, the first coat of PCS Clear Shield can be applied. It should never be applied to green logs or wood with a moisture content exceeding 20%.
STEP 2: APPLICATION Use a paint paddle to gently stir PCS Clear Shield before using. Do not shake container or agitate as this creates foam that may result in air bubbles within the finish. Do not dilute PCS Clear Shield with water or any other solvent. Do not tint.
Stir well before and during use. Apply coats of PCS Clear Shield using smooth, even strokes in the same direction as the wood grain to avoid entrapping air in the finish. Do one or two boards at a time ending at wood joints, walls or doorways to prevent lap marks.
After applying the first coat, allow it to dry to the touch (typically one to two hours) then lightly sand smooth using fine (180 grit or higher) sandpaper or buffing brush. Do not allow the sanding procedure to build up excessive heat. Do not use steel wool. We do not recommend sanding between subsequent coats. On new or worn wood floors a minimum of three coats is recommended although additional coats will add more luster and depth to the finish.
STEP 3: CLEANUP Wash hands and tools with soap and warm water as soon as possible after use.
STEP 4: DRYING TIME Although PCS Clear Shield dries to the touch in approximately one to two hours, you should let the surface dry for about 12 hours before allowing light traffic. Avoid placing rugs or moving furniture over the finish for approximately one week. PCS Clear Shield will reach full cure hardness within one to two weeks.
STEP 5: ESTIMATED COVERAGE One gallon of PCS Clear Shield typically covers between 400 to 600 square feet. First coat coverage may be less on older, porous wood surfaces. On bare walls, ceilings and cabinets an initial coat of LIFELINE stain or Prelude Primer will increase the coverage rate.
